From the President (BRMCA that is)
Join me in welcoming long-time mountain resident Pam McGroarty to the BRMCA board of directors. Pam, who has served on the board before, returns to fill the vacancy of Judy Newman. Pam and her husband Steve run a landscaping company and have lived on the mountain since 1983. Pam was elected to the board at the monthly meeting Sunday at the clubhouse.
We apologize for some of the difficulties we’ve had in notifying the community of upcoming board meetings. It seems that vandals have twice stolen signs announcing the regular monthly meetings of the board from our community sign at the corner of Mountain and Logmill. They also stole the sign that lists the website of the community. We’d appreciate any information that the community may have that would lead to the recovery of the missing signs.
While I respect that there may be some disagreement in the community over the recent events that lead to the formation of a new board, I think it over the line and a new low when immature individuals start destroying community property. Now we’re going to have to go to the expense of replacing these signs. In the interim, we’ll continue to post meeting announcements and information at the web site.
Hopefully the vandals won’t be able to steal that.
The board is making good progress in restoring the normal functions of the board, getting the bills paid, straightening up the corporate filings with the state and restoring financial control over our accounts. Our Legal committee, chaired by VP Charles Phucas, has been meeting with state officials who have been giving the board direction and advice about how to get our accounts back in order.
In other board news:
--Our Roads representative Alan Bratburd has been working with the county to get a task order in place that will lead to some pothole and ditch repairs to our roads in the near future.
--The board approved a cable right-of-way easement with COMCAST which will finally lead to cable service for homes on Mercer Road, Nelson Drive and Patent Circle.
-- Directors Carolyn Smith-Shrey and Alan Bratburd volunteered to serve as Clubhouse Committee, and they will be working on updating the clubhouse rental agreement and schedules.
-- We met with some of the skateboarders that live on the mountain who have asked to use the basketball court to skateboard on. The board has concerns about liability and has asked for information how other community skateboard facilities handle the issue.
Our next board meeting will be on May 2 at 12 noon at the clubhouse.
I’d like to thank all the new BRMC board of directors for their hard work in diving right into the challenges of getting the board back in the business of addressing community needs.
Regards,
Glenn Cruickshank, President
