From the BRMCA President...
6 June 2010
The BRMCA held its normal monthly board meeting, Sunday, 6 June at the clubhouse. We covered a number of community items and heard committee reports. The highlights included:
- Review of road washout problems on North Lookout, and how the road can be repaired quickly to prevent future problems.
- In accordance with the bylaws, appointed a three-person nominating committee to assemble nominees for the September Board of Director Elections. The members of that committee are Jim Price, Paul Scheingold and Glenn Cruickshank. All nine board of director seats are up for election in September, as the board gets back to a regular cycle of elections. Individuals wishing to serve on the board should send an email to board@brmca.net with a short biographical sketch or campaign statement of interest. The board will review the nominations at the July board meeting, and will accept nominations from meeting guests at that time. At the conclusion of the meeting, nominations will close. Nominees should be currently-paid members of the BRMCA.
- The board began reviewing the current bylaws and worked on changes to update them from the 1978 version. The community will have a chance to comment on these proposed changes at future meetings.
- The board reviewed and paid bills.
Respectfully,
Glenn Cruickshank
President

From the BRMCA President...
16 May 2010
Dear Residents,
I’m disappointed to report that the BRMCA clubhouse will be temporarily unavailable for community use because it has no electricity.
This happened for several reasons. First, the power bills never got paid over the course of the winter because the bank account was frozen by the bank because of the board turmoil. Second, it seems that the previous board actions to try and change our articles of incorporation triggered NOVEC to review our tax status. They have somehow determined that the BRMCA is a business now, rather than a non-profit and as a result are now recalculating our last three years worth of power bills at a far higher rate, asking for complete payment before they will turn the power back on.
We are trying to clear this up with NOVEC, but it takes time, and if any one of you have had similar back-payment issues with the power company, you can understand that this doesn’t happen overnight.
So please be patient with us as we work to get the power turned back on and the clubhouse open for community use.
Regards
Glenn Cruickshank (contact Glenn at Board@brmca.net)

UPDATE. In my earlier message, I wrote about our missing meeting signs. We've cleared up that mystery, and have notified the police as such. It seems that the family who build the original sign at the corner of Logmill and Mountain now objects to placing BRMCA meeting signs on the actual BRM sign. They had taken down the signs, but not notified anyone on the board that they didn't want them posted. Now we know. In the future, we'll post meeting signs at the clubhouse board only (and on the web site).
