Welcome to our new website

All,

Well here we are with a brand new internet tubes presence. I get to make a lot of decisions about what goes on here, but first I thought I would give some background about BRMCA.net

We had a website for a while and were paying for it. As I understand it, the developer moved away and minimal updates were made. There was a need to make a change. When I went on the BRMCA board, the group indicated they wanted a blog, so I got a friend to buy a new Domain name and set one up. Turned out it was a bit difficult to maintain so I volunteered to do a new web site.

At that point I was using FrontPage from Microsoft to do webs. Not totally evil was the site, but ok for a what you see is what you get developer. Then Microsoft stopped supporting FrontPage (and the server issues were also problematic as the server needed extra software to make FrontPage run - hassle for my server guy). So i got a copy of WebEssentials from Microsoft and struggled on.

The I saw the light and switched my whole world to Apples. I continued to use WebEssentials, but my server guy was really getting nervous and wanted to change servers. So I switched to Rapid Weaver for Macs and cranked out this baby. The software is a no brainier and very easy to use. In addition to being template driven and current standards compliant, the template even reformats the page if you access it from an iPhone or Android!

So here we are and I want to make this perfectly clear. This is the official web site of the Bull Run Mountain Civic Association as long as they want me to do it (and are happy with my efforts). I will continue to shoulder the costs for the site and at the point the board wants to go in a different direction I will hand over the files and domain name and wish them well. At this point they are just fine with the efforts.

Now this is where you all come in. If you want me to post a topic submit a request and I’ll work on it. Content is the communities responsibility. If you are a member of the Civic Association send me stuff on events and activities you’re involved in. I’ll even post yard sales on our calendar. We’re using Google Calendar and as soon as we get some more events up I’m going to have a thumbnail on our home page.

If you have news or pictures, send them in.

And... YOU MUST COMPLY WITH THE RULES OF THE BLOG - BE NICE, SURVIVE, AND PREVENT HARM.
